• a compilation of unreleased tunes from 2000 to 2014 this is perhaps the most accessable art damage release yet... "It started off sounding like the style that some people might categorize as 'synthwave' or 'minimal synth' music, one could say; but then, it got surprisingly more like an electro-jazz sort of a vibe as it went along(!), before reaching the more ambient part that closes it out."
• here's a review in Nightwaves Zine 20th anniversary issue by Gary Flannagan
"Art Damage is a veteran of the east coast electronic music scene. It has been a privilege of mine to listen to his music over the past twenty or so years. I have consistently been impressed and entranced by his offerings.
“There Are Rules to Every Exception” is a finely crafted and detailed collection of unreleased tunes from 2000-2014. It consistently exhibits a control of multiple electronic textures. “++good” is a great opener. As Art mentions on his Bandcamp page, there is an “electro jazz” feel as this album moves along. “Noted By Others” is a great mix of synth melodies and
agressive rhythms. As always, it is very well produced. “Anecdoting” is quieter, moody and very cinematic. “Day of the Weak” features exquisite piano and is overall a very musically pure track. “Ambisweet” is another great song with percolating melodies complementing atmospherics. “Nate's Song” is spooky yet beautiful. I have loved every Art Damage album I have heard over the years, but I think this one is probably his most well rounded and captivating work. Highly recommended"
